Where it began
- The Blade Artist (2016)
It started with a blade.
In Irvine Welsh's The Blade Artist, Francis Begbie — the most violent man in Trainspotting — has become Jim Francis, a celebrated artist living in California. His sculptures are casts of famous faces, Hollywood stars, which he scars and mutilates. The violence never left him. It changed medium.
That is where DISØRDIN∆RY BÆUTY began. If a blade could open a celebrity's face in sculpture, the glitch could do the same on screen. In BÆUTY IS CH∆ØS the glitch becomes that blade: it cuts through the perfect faces of Instagram influencers until no one is left — and something else appears in their place.
