∆̶R̶T̶ ̶C̶∆̶N̶O̶N̶S̶

The canon is a promise of harmony. A definition of beauty that art history spent centuries enforcing — through academic training, through institutional selection, through the slow accumulation of what gets called a masterpiece and what gets forgotten.

∆RT C∆NONS takes that definition and breaks it from the inside.

A series of glitch videos in which classical paintings — portraits built around the ideal of beauty as equilibrium, as resolution, as something that rests comfortably in the eye — are subjected to glitch. The harmony the original artist spent years constructing is interrupted. Layer on layer of glitch sequences pushed beyond their limits, exaggerated until the image tips into dis/harmony.

The selection is precise. Works that still carry the full weight of their classical aspiration intact. Artists trained in the tradition, dedicated to its legacy, committed to beauty as a form of order. The canon they represent is not arbitrary — it is a system of values disguised as aesthetics.

That system is what the glitch targets.

The viewer arrives expecting the experience the screen and the classical tradition both promise. What they find instead is vertigo. Not destruction for its own sake, but the revelation of what was always underneath the harmony: the pressure it took to hold it together, the things it had to exclude to remain beautiful.

Presented in vertical 9:16 format — the same proportions as a phone screen, as a story, as the frame through which contemporary beauty is most often consumed.
