BIØLØGLITCHY
The body begins at the cellular level. So does the glitch.
BIOLOGLITCHY brings together two methods that share the same ambition: making the invisible visible. The first is staining — a technique from biological and microscopic research, in which chemical agents are applied to cellular samples to reveal structures that otherwise can't be seen by the eye. The second is databending — converting an image file through a sequence of formats, each conversion introducing new distortions into the internal structure of the file, corrupting the pixel data in ways that expose what the original image never showed.
The images in this series begin as biological source material — cells, adipose tissue, the microarchitecture of the body at a scale the eye can't access. They pass through chains of format conversion. At each step the file loses something and gains something else. The staining reveals. The databending distorts the revelation.
What comes out is neither scientific image nor purely aesthetic object. It is the body seen twice through incompatible lenses, both of them precise, neither of them complete.
The body from the inside, glitched into visibility.
