DIRTY SCRƏƏNS

The body as consumer good. The screen as the surface where that transaction happens.

DIRTY SCREENS takes pornographic animated GIFs — images of bodies circulating freely across adult websites, consumed and discarded in loops — and reproduces them on a broken LCD screen placed on a flatbed scanner. The scanner captures what it finds: backlit, low-resolution, fragmented by the cracked display. The dysfunctional attempt to screenshot a looping image through hardware that was never meant for this produces something the original image never was — distorted, alienated, unrecognisable as desire.

The broken screen is not incidental. It is the argument. A metaphor for how digital technology fractures and deviates the representation of sexuality, reducing the body — and specifically the female body — to a repeating unit of content. Something to be scrolled past. Something the algorithm serves and the platform profits from.

The scanner doesn't know what it's looking at. That unknowing produces the work.

An iconoclastic act. The image of the body pulled out of the consumer circuit and made strange again — too broken to consume, too precise to ignore.
